Encounter PowerBench
Height-adjustable benching — the sit-stand answer for open, collaborative floors.
Overview
PowerBench is AIS’s height-adjustable benching from the Encounter platform — a well-resolved example of sit-stand benching for open plan, with thoughtful power and cable management throughout. Here’s how it works, and where it fits.
PowerBench is height-adjustable benching — continuous, back-to-back runs where every station raises and lowers for sit-stand work. Part of the AIS Encounter platform, it routes power and data along a central spine, and the detailing — cable management, screens, storage and accessories — is unusually well thought out. It is the sit-stand successor to the earlier AIS Aloft, which we’ve installed.

AIS has long been an early adopter of sophisticated design paradigms, with a real talent for engineering those advanced features into value-driven products, and Encounter is its second generation — refined from extensive field experience. We show PowerBench as a benchmark for how height-adjustable benching should handle power and detailing; every element of this system is genuinely well thought out. We’ve installed its predecessor, Aloft, and we’ll help you specify the right sit-stand bench for your space.
So here’s when we’d specify Encounter PowerBench — and when we’d point you elsewhere.
Specify it when
- You want well-resolved sit-stand benching for open plan.
- You want thoughtful power and cable management throughout.
- You want the Encounter platform detailing on a dense, collaborative floor.
- You value a manufacturer that shares our standards and backs us up when a project needs it.
Consider something else when
- Teams need real enclosure and acoustic privacy — a panel system fits better.
- You want a warmer, residential feel — a desking system gets there more easily.
- The whole floor will reconfigure constantly — an agile beam reconfigures faster.
- It’s a single desk, not a run.
