Interior solutions, designed to work together.

We plan, specify, and deliver integrated interior solutions that support how people work, heal, learn, and gather — aligning product selection with performance, wellness, and long-term value.

Home / Commercial Interiors

Commercial interiors are shaped by product categories that each play a distinct role in how a space performs, feels, and endures. We approach them as interconnected components — selected and planned to work together in support of people, daily use, wellness, and long-term value.

What partners say

Trusted by the people who design & run these spaces.

“They respected and enhanced the building that we had designed… In the end the client was very pleased with how the space turned out. We look forward to working again with Jeff and his team.”

Oscar Ibarra, AIAArchitect

“AE handled not just the design and furniture but also served as GC — flooring, painting, tile, electrical and plumbing, a complete design-build team. The new spaces are just beautiful and reflect our brand.”

Keith BandolikPresident, Switchcraft

“Applied Ergonomics has been my go-to for the better part of 20 years… No stone is left unturned. Regardless of what market we’re working in across the country, I turn over the blank floor plan to Jeff.”

Jerry MerktFacilities Manager, Ziegler Capital Markets

“They worked with us on spec for a year and did all of the interior design and product selection for our 180,000 sq ft headquarters. We grew from 200 to over 1,100 employees. I can’t say enough good things.”

Frequently asked questions.

About Commercial Interiors

What types of commercial interior products do you offer?
A comprehensive range — furniture (seating, desks, workstations, tables, storage), interior architecture (privacy pods, modular walls and rooms, flooring, acoustics), and ancillary elements (ergonomic accessories, power, sound masking, biophilia, and more).
How long does a custom order typically take?
Fully custom orders typically take 6–12 weeks; made-to-order products 3–6 weeks. Quick-ship items are available immediately from in-stock inventory.
Do you provide installation services?
Yes — both union and non-union installation aligned with your property requirements, coordinated with GCs and building management for compliance, quality, and schedule.
Can you help with product specification and design?
Absolutely. We specify and design interior products to meet your goals, working with architects, designers, and end users to select the right products for each application.
What geographic areas do you serve?
We are national workspace experts with projects across the United States; our network delivers consistent quality regardless of location.

Working with Applied Ergonomics

What types of projects does Applied Ergonomics work on?
We work on projects of all sizes, from single-office setups to multi-floor corporate buildouts. Our services span workspace strategy, interior design, furniture specification, procurement, project management, and installation across healthcare, education, corporate, industrial, and hospitality environments.
How does the consultation process work?
We start with a conversation to understand your goals, challenges, and timeline. From there we develop a tailored approach that may include space planning, product recommendations, and a detailed proposal. There’s no obligation, and we’re happy to answer questions at any stage.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Absolutely. We regularly partner with architects and interior designers as a technical and execution resource, translating design intent into specific, high-performing solutions.
What geographic areas do you serve?
We serve clients nationally. While we’re headquartered in the Chicago area, our project management and installation capabilities extend across the United States.
Do you support ongoing facility needs after a project is complete?
Yes. We remain a consistent point of contact beyond project closeout—handling warranty coordination, reconfigurations, internal moves, modular system relocation and reuse, redesigns, and more. Our goal is continuity, not re-procurement.
