From a single sit-stand desk to a fully integrated private office, the desk is personal infrastructure. We specify height-adjustable bases, executive casegoods, and reception stations — chosen as the best product for the job, not the cheapest base on the marketplace.

Questions, answered.

About Desks & Casegoods

Should I choose a fixed-height or height-adjustable desk?
For most people we recommend a height-adjustable (sit-stand) desk — shifting between sitting and standing through the day supports comfort and movement. Fixed-height still makes sense for budget-driven or low-change settings; for a short user at a fixed desk, a keyboard tray keeps typing height correct.
Why not just buy a cheap sit-stand desk online?
Our desks are contract-grade — dual- or triple-motor, multi-stage legs, programmable controls, and warranties built for daily commercial use. We focus on the best base for the job, not the lowest price, and we support it after the sale — including help reading and resetting base error codes, a real difference from disposable consumer units.
What does a private office casegoods program include?
Beyond the desk: credenzas, returns, bridges, overhead and storage hutches, and matching lateral files — specified as one integrated program. Modern casegoods come in both fixed-height and height-adjustable versions, so the whole office can match and still sit-stand, with finishes, scale, and base all lined up. The result reads as a designed office, not a desk with mismatched pieces added later.
Can the same desk work in a home office?
Yes — a height-adjustable desk is the same product whether it ships to the office or a home. “Home office” is a setting, not a different desk, so we specify the right base and deliver it wherever the work happens.
How tall should a reception or transaction desk be?
Standing-transaction surfaces are almost universally about 42 inches — comfortable for most people standing to sign in or check out. We plan reception desks around that working height while keeping the staff-side work surface at seated desk height.

Working with Applied Ergonomics

What types of projects does Applied Ergonomics work on?
We work on projects of all sizes, from single-office setups to multi-floor corporate buildouts. Our services span workspace strategy, interior design, furniture specification, procurement, project management, and installation across healthcare, education, corporate, industrial, and hospitality environments.
How does the consultation process work?
We start with a conversation to understand your goals, challenges, and timeline. From there we develop a tailored approach that may include space planning, product recommendations, and a detailed proposal. There’s no obligation, and we’re happy to answer questions at any stage.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Absolutely. We regularly partner with architects and interior designers as a technical and execution resource, translating design intent into specific, high-performing solutions.
What geographic areas do you serve?
We serve clients nationally. While we’re headquartered in the Chicago area, our project management and installation capabilities extend across the United States.
Do you support ongoing facility needs after a project is complete?
Yes. We remain a consistent point of contact beyond project closeout—handling warranty coordination, reconfigurations, internal moves, modular system relocation and reuse, redesigns, and more. Our goal is continuity, not re-procurement.
