Matrix
Our most configurable panel — any face material you want, with power and data placed exactly where people need them.
Overview
When a floor needs to be exactly what the plan draws — any tile, any material, power and data wherever they land — Matrix is the canvas. It’s a deeply configurable frame-and-tile system; here’s how it works, and where it shines.
Matrix is a frame-and-tile Panel System — the paradigm that still fits the large majority of workstation floors. On a full steel frame (3.25" thick), it places privacy, acoustics, power and data exactly where each person needs them. What makes Matrix special is its range: tiles in nearly every material (fabric acoustical, laminate, steel, perforated or embossed steel, whiteboard, tool rail, glass, open frame), electrical mountable at any 8-inch increment, with cabling routed through the frame at multiple heights, and stacking to 130 inches — plus wall-track connections to fixed walls. A true build-anything system.

Few systems give a planner this much room to work. Matrix lets you place power and data precisely where people need them — at any height on the frame — and dress every panel in whatever material the design calls for, from acoustic fabric to glass to steel. When a floor has to be specific, Matrix bends to it rather than the other way around.
So here’s when we’d specify Matrix — and when we’d point you elsewhere.
Specify it when
- The plan is specific and complex — you need any tile material and power/data exactly where they land.
- Data capacity is a priority — cabling routes through the frame at multiple heights, not just the top.
- You want to reconfigure and re-tile later without replacing the frame.
- Runs need to integrate with the architecture (wall-track into fixed walls) and stack tall — to 130″.
- You value a manufacturer that shares our standards and backs us up when a project needs it.
Consider something else when
- Speed and budget lead — a quick-ship panel line installs faster and costs less.
- The plan will reconfigure constantly — an agile beam reconfigures faster.
- You want maximum open density and daylight — benching opens the plan up.
- You want a warmer, residential feel — a desking system gets there more easily.
- The floor is simple and standard — Matrix’s configurability is more than a plain layout needs.

Highlights
- Tiles in nearly every material — fabric, laminate, steel, whiteboard, glass, open frame.
- Power & data at any 8-inch increment — with cabling routed at multiple heights.
- Reconfigure & re-tile later — without replacing the frame.
Configurations & construction
- Tiles in nearly every material — fabric acoustical, laminate, steel, perforated or embossed steel, whiteboard, tool rail, glass, open frame.
- Power & data at any height — electrical mounts at any 8-inch increment on the frame, right where people reach it.
- Serious data capacity — cable routes through the panel frames at multiple heights, not just the top — between the frame passthroughs and the topcap channel, Matrix carries far more than a single trough.
- Stacks to 130 inches — stack-on frames build height for tall dividers and changing layouts.
- Wall-track connections — panels tie into fixed walls with wall-track, so runs integrate cleanly with the architecture.
- Gallery panels & frameless glass — thin laminate wing dividers, plus frameless glass screens (specified separately) that mount above gallery or standard panels for light and open sightlines.
- 4-circuit power — spread load across circuits, with a dedicated, isolated circuit for sensitive equipment.
- Reconfigure & re-tile — change materials or layout later without replacing the frame.

Finishes
The AIS surface palette — laminates, powder-coat paint, glass and panel textiles, organised by material. Grade sets the tier. Sections are collapsed; open any one to see the range. (Neutral tiles are awaiting swatch images; AIS does not publish finish codes, so selections are matched by name and grade.)
