STEM & Science Lab Tables

Science, maker and STEM tables for classrooms that have to be three different rooms in a single day.

Home / Education / STEM & Science Lab Tables

A STEM room is asked to run a lecture, a wet lab and a build session in the same week, often with the same furniture. That puts the weight on the table top, the utilities and the ability to move — and it is why so many science rooms end up frozen in one configuration they never intended.

How to spec it

What this decision turns on.

What lands on the top

Chemicals, heat, blades, solder. The top specification is the whole decision — getting it wrong is a replacement, not a repair.

Fixed or mobile

A fixed island suits a wet lab; a maker space needs to clear the floor. Rooms that must be both need mobile tables with lockable casters and a plan for where the utilities live.

Utilities

Power, data, gas, water. Where these come from decides whether a room can ever be reconfigured — overhead and floor-box strategies keep it open, in-table plumbing does not.

Sightlines and reach

Students have to see the demonstration and reach the work. Table height, depth and orientation matter more in a STEM room than in any other classroom.

Specific models are selected against the project. Product images and model numbers follow once the specification is set.

About STEM & Science Lab Tables

What matters most in a STEM room?
The top. Chemicals, heat, blades and solder all land on it, and getting the top specification wrong is a replacement rather than a repair.
Fixed or mobile tables?
A fixed island suits a wet lab; a maker space needs to clear the floor. Rooms that must be both need mobile tables with lockable casters and a plan for where the utilities live — overhead and floor-box strategies keep a room reconfigurable, in-table plumbing does not.

Working with Applied Ergonomics

What types of projects does Applied Ergonomics work on?
We work on projects of all sizes, from single-office setups to multi-floor corporate buildouts. Our services span workspace strategy, interior design, furniture specification, procurement, project management, and installation across healthcare, education, corporate, industrial, and hospitality environments.
How does the consultation process work?
We start with a conversation to understand your goals, challenges, and timeline. From there we develop a tailored approach that may include space planning, product recommendations, and a detailed proposal. There’s no obligation, and we’re happy to answer questions at any stage.
Do you work with architects and interior designers?
Absolutely. We regularly partner with architects and interior designers as a technical and execution resource, translating design intent into specific, high-performing solutions.
What geographic areas do you serve?
We serve clients nationally. While we’re headquartered in the Chicago area, our project management and installation capabilities extend across the United States.
Do you support ongoing facility needs after a project is complete?
Yes. We remain a consistent point of contact beyond project closeout—handling warranty coordination, reconfigurations, internal moves, modular system relocation and reuse, redesigns, and more. Our goal is continuity, not re-procurement.
