Where this comes from
Ergonomics is a science before it is a product category.
Ergonomics is the science of fitting the space to accommodate the people interacting with it. Modern ergonomics came out of wartime aviation and the space program, where the fit between a person and their controls carried real consequences. It moved into industrial work, and then into the office once sitting at a computer became the job for most people.
These resources are written from that side of it — the reasoning we use when we specify. What a dimension is actually for, what a rating does and does not tell you, and where the trade-offs sit.
